Tina Davey is
a native of Orange County. She grew up riding and training with
many instructors, including noted professional and judge, Mike
Neilsen. Tina rode many different horses from an early age,
including sales horses. This experience gives her the ability
to deal with and train many different types of horses and understand
each individual's needs.
Tina is a recent graduate of UC Santa Cruz where she studied
Literature and Hebrew. As captain of the UC Santa Cruz Equestrian
Team, her years of experience were very beneficial for her team.
Tina continued to broaden her horsemanship skills during her
college years. She was a working student for Vicki Rose of Ridgemark
Farms and helped to train, teach, and manage Vicki's competitive
show barn.
Vicki Rose is a long time friend of Jim Hagman, the owner of
Elvenstar, and it was on her recommendation that Tina came to
Elvenstar in January of 2007. Tina quickly excelled in the Elvenstar
program and became the managing instructor/trainer in September
of 2007. Tina is an excellent rider/trainer. She teaches Short
Stirrup to Medal/Maclay and attends and trains at the OCHSA
and IEL shows. |

James U. Hagman is the founder
of Elvenstar, recognized today as one of the Top Equestrian
Facilities, Riding Academies and Show Stables in the Nation.
He is a native resident of Ventura Country and grew up in
Thousand Oaks. In the fall of 1980 James' parents purchased
a 12.5 acre parcel of rugged, rocky California hillside. This
treeless, cactus and scrub brush covered property became Elvenstar.
As a child Mr. Hagman became devoted to the art of horsemanship.
His love of the sport transitioned into his development of
Elvenstar with the goal to share this sport with other young
athletes and animal lovers.
Opened in 1982 and located in the Tierra Rejada Valley between
Thousand Oaks and Moorpark, this premier establishment offers
all the advantages of a traditional, elite riding facility,
providing an environment where horse care, learning, safety
and enjoyment are paramount. He creates a challenging learning
curriculum and equine education that directly promotes and
develops individual excellence and generates success at all
levels of hunter, jumper and equitation showing.

Kay
Altheuser
kay@elvenstar.com
Kay was born in
Encino, Ca. She has been riding since the age of 9 when
she got her first lesson for a Christmas present. At twelve
she began to show successfully in the "A" circuit
until she went off to college to study Animal Science and
Journalism. Deciding that the horse business was her calling,
she went to work for Los Angeles Children's Riding Center.
She worked with the handicapped riding program "Ahead
With Horses" as the head instructor.
After ten years Kay wanted to get back to the show ring
so she accepted a job with Jane Shaw at Thumbs Up Riding
Club. In the four years she worked for Jane she had many
successes with her riders. Moving up from there, she ran
Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center Riding School,
where she also rode for Victor Hugo Vidal and Mark Mullen.
In 1986 Kay moved to Northern California to work with Rudy
Leone. Kay worked with Rudy for 10 years until she came
to Elvenstar. What she enjoys most about Elvenstar is the
friendly family atmosphere and her personal enjoyment is
watching her students succeed.
Kay is the standing
vice president of LAHJA as well as a board member for "Riding
For Reading."
