Educational Lectures + Grooming + Horse Care + Games + 2 Lessons + Arts & Crafts  + Paint Your Pony + Show Day = Elvenstar’s Awesome Day Camp!

Come learn to ride in a safe and fun environment! Elvenstar day camps are designed to teach all aspects of horsemanship from riding skills to horse care. Schedule includes two riding sessions per day, lectures, and additional activities such as arts and crafts, games and equine videos. Lecture topics include: grooming, tack care, and proper and safe handling of horses.

Camp Details:

Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday-Friday
Ages: 7 and up
Attire: long pants and paddock boots or shoes with a heel preferred.

2 week session $800.00 ~ One week session $500.00 ~ Individual days $125.00 per day.

Summer Camp 2012 Session Dates:

Session # 1 June 11 – 22 – $800
Session # 2 June 25 – July 6 (No class offered on July 4. Session 2 price $720)
Session # 3 July 9 – July 20 – $800
Session # 4 July 23 – Aug 3 – $800
Session # 5 Aug 6 – Aug 17 – $800
Session # 6 Aug 20 – 24 (this one week session is offered at $400)

Daily Schedule

8:00am     Sign in
8:15am     Group/horse assignments. Horsemanship lecture.
8:45am     Get horses from pasture.
9:00am     Groom and tack
10:00am   1st Lesson
11:00am   Untack, groom and put away
12:00pm   Lunch
12:30pm   Arts and crafts
1:15pm     Get horses, groom and tack up
2:00pm     2nd lesson
3:00pm     Untack, groom and put away
3:45pm     Snack
4:00pm     Campers depart.
Note: Extended care hours available until 5:00 pm for an additional charge of $10.00 per hour.

More Details

On the first Friday of each session, arts and crafts is replaced by Paint Your Pony. Although paint is supplied, Campers are free to bring ribbons and flowers to decorate their ponies. Campers ride their decorated ponies in the second session. (Details of acceptable decorations will be given out at camp or can be obtained from the Riding Academy Office.)

Camp Counselors

Elvenstar Day Camp has approximately a 1 to 5 counselor-to-student ratio. Each camp session has two adult instructors and two to three junior counselors. The majority of our junior counselors have grown up here at Elvenstar, and most have participated in the camp themselves as children. Now, as young adults and knowledgeable horsemen, they have come full circle and are helping us continue the tradition of teaching proper horsemanship.
